Emptying of the building and subsequent refurbishment

Terms of execution: 14 MesesStatus of work: Finished

Refurbishment of a residential building located in the centre of A Coruña, according to the project carried out by the architect Carlota Robelo.

The 685 m2 building consists of a ground floor, three floors of flats and one floor under the roof, housing a total of 6 flats, one per floor and two on the ground floor.

The work began with the emptying of the building, given the poor condition of the existing wooden structure. The new structure was made of micro-laminated wood, with a similar layout to the original one. On the roof, a metallic structure has been installed, on which a mixed slab of steel sheet and lightened concrete rests.

On the façade, the masonry walls have been preserved, and the interior walls have been lined with a system of Pladur-type panels and insulation.  The exterior carpentry has been maintained in the same way, recovering both the gallery and the existing balconies.

Inside the building, a lift has been installed with a stadip-type glass enclosure, allowing natural light to enter the stairwell through a skylight.

Finally, with regard to the finishes, porcelain stoneware flooring has been used in the communal areas and wet rooms, while oak parquet has been used in the rest of the house.
