Restoration of a Residential Building

Plazo de ejecución: 10 MesesEstado de la obra: Finalizada

Comprehensive restoration of a residential building located in the centre of A Coruña.

The project, carried out by the architectural studio Díaz & Díaz, preserves the previous structural scheme, based on perimeter load-bearing walls and wooden beams.

On top of the existing wooden slabs, a new composite slab of sheet metal and concrete is built, supported on the party walls by means of metal profiles.

The modules of the wooden gallery are homogenised, so that the second floor has the same height as the third floor.

The ground floor, which has been fitted out as a restaurant, conserves the essence of the pre-existing premises, although it incorporates new design elements in which the stone walls and the iroko wood panelling are the protagonists.

The first and second floors house a one-bedroom dwelling of approximately 50 m2 each. On the third floor and under the roof there is a three-bedroom flat of about 100 m2.

The new materials used for the interior cladding are plasterboard paneling painted in white and oak floating floorboards.
